Ypsilanti, MI—Join the Muslim Student Association at the Eastern Michigan University in its community wide dinner celebrating Eid al-Adha on Saturday, November 20th. Imams from Ann Arbor and Canton will speak on the meaning behind Eid al-Adha along with a stand up performance by renowned comedian Baba Ali (see flyer below).
Eid al-Adha is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice instead. This event is the collaboration of the Muslim Student Association of Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and Wayne State University.
