Sheikh Yusuf al Qaradawi on the Importance of History for a Nation

Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi wrote in his book the “Islamic Awakening” regarding the importance of history of nations:

‎”A history of a nation, with all of its positive and negative aspects, its victories and defeats, is a rich mine upon which that nation draws in order to reconstruct and redirect its present. A nation which neglects its history is like a person who has lost his memory; or like a nation without roots or sense of belonging or direction…Further, history is the mirror in which Allah’s sunan are reflected in the whole universe in general and in human life in particular. This is why the Qura’n has given special attention to the impact of the historical perspective and the wisdom that can be drawn from it.”

Allah’s sunan are the common factors for all.
