Fatwa: Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid

By Umer Sultan| Dignity is in adhering to the Qur’an and Sunnah, as understood by the Sahaba-the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad-the Seal of the Prophets.

As some of you may know, I have been following this cult of Zaid Hamid in Pakistan. I also posted twice on this subject at my blog (here and here last year), both of which were re-posted by the Zaid Hamid Exposition [ZHE] team at their website.

After more than a year of exposing and consolidating evidences against him by the ZHE Team, on November 30, 2011, the Ulema (Islamic Scholars) of Pakistan at Jamia Binoria, a well-known and leading Islamic Seminary, gave a detailed verdict (Fatwa) that Zaid Hamid, also known as Zaid Zaman Hamid, and those who follow him are outside the fold of Islam, hence ‘Kafir’ or dis-believers. Thus adding the word ‘Kazzab‘ meaning liar with Zaid Hamid’s name.

Those who can read Urdu, link to the detail verdict is given below. I will talk about it soon in shaa Allah (God willing) but let me give a brief history on Zaid Zaman Hamid-Kazzab.

Who is Zaid Hamid?

Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid-Kazzab

Zaid Hamid presents himself as a defense analyst, calls himself a Mujahid (claims to participate in the Jihad against Soviet Union in Afghanistan), calls himself Aashiq-e-Rusool (having immense love for Prophet Muhammad), and is known for dropping war mongering rhetoric against India and American forces in Afghanistan. He has repeatedly said that the Khilafah needs to be established in Pakistan (something that Ulema-Islamic Scholars never preach).

He is always seen in public with a red hat of a soldier, and often in military jacket. He is eloquent and mesmerizing, hence was shooting to his fame last year when few unknown Continue reading

What Muhajir and Pathan Can Learn From the Qur’an

By Umer Sultan| “Lets move from the Jahiliyyah to the nobility of Islam!”

The sanctity of Ramadan is meaningless for them. The open doors of Heavens are meaningless for them. Seeking forgiveness for the past shortfalls and asking Allah for guidance is meaningless for them. What is meaningful for them, however, is to shed blood of their Muslim brothers because Allah had created them into different languages and ethnicity.

I am not talking about Syria in which the government forces are shooting down the Muslims praying in the Mosques. I am talking about the situation in Karachi in which over 300+ people have died and counting, where the city has been hijacked by mainly two secularist-ethnic nationalist parties-ANP- Awami National Party (Pathan) and MQM- formerly Muhajir Qaumi Movement (Muhajir). Target killings are the norm in the city, and the sins of the dead & their families is that they belong to one of the two ethnic groups- Pathan or Muhajir, or they happened to be the bystanders, where as, the PPP-Pakistan Peoples Party, is having a low-profile in the conflict.

Pathan are Pashto speaking people from the North Western region of Pakistan neighboring Afghanistan. Muhajir are Urdu speaking people who migrated from India to Pakistan. This insanity is also part of  the Global War on Terror. The MQM that claims to uphold the rights of Muhajir has Continue reading

Imran Khan says US is responsible for Terrorism in Pakistan

“Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan declared the government of Pakistan a slave of the US and added that the ongoing terrorism in the country would continue until Washington stopped meddling in the internal affairs of Islamabad.” -PTI

Imran Khan said the above quote in a press conference after the twin suicide bombings at the shrine of an Islamic scholar and a sufi saint, Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh in Lahore.

The dilemma I am facing is that how come the anti-muslim, the neo-con, Islamophobic, American Supremacist element has given complete impunity to Imran Khan!! I mean that is pretty freaky. What is going on behind the scenes??? Places where ZakirNaik (a Muslim Telepreacher) gets banned, Imran Khan has Freedom!!!! How Come???

Imran Khan has given countless statements regarding the Pak-US relations that can qualify him to be labelled as Anti-American by the american Right. However, I have not come across any opposition to him in this respect. Where criticizing American policy of drones attack in Pakistan, and opposing military escalation in Afghanistan can cause Continue reading

NY Time’s Frustrated Strivers!!

By Umer Sultan

The New York Times, America’s one of the largest national Newspaper in print and online, published a biography of a militant Umar Kundi yesterday (Feb 27th 2010) under this title “Frustrated Strivers in Pakistan Turn to Jihad.”

When I read a title, I didn’t even think that it will be a biography of a militant. In fact for some naive reason I thought the NY Times, this prestigious newspaper, would have gone deep into the issue of militancy and had tried to show the confusion amongst the Pakistani youth.

Picture- The 1st Shock

Obnoxious

I was shocked when I saw the first picture and read the caption of it. This picture has nothing to do with anything with the entire article first of all. Second, why a niqabi (face covered) and hijabi (head covered dressed modestly) women is shown? What has that got to do with Extremism or Jihad?

Allama Iqbal: The Brain Drain And The Contribution Of The East

“Iqbal, the Moslem (Muslim) poet from Lahore (Pakistan), said that the great contribution of the West to the East was the scientific attitude, the great contribution of the East being charity or love, as epitomized by Christ and Muhammad, Confucius, and Buddha.

In the West, intellect is the source of life
In the East, Love is the basis of life.
Through Love, Intellect grows acquainted with Reality,
and Intellect gives stability to the work of Love,
Arise and lay the foundations of a new world,
By wedding Intellect to Love.

This is the unfinished business which the brain drain from developing nations is retarding.” (Douglas, 156).
