In recent weeks, Republican politics and attempts across America to block the building of mosques have underscored the impact of Islamophobia in American society.
Republican candidates have jumped on a bandwagon, appealing to racist attitudes towards Islam and Muslims as a political wedge to gain electoral votes in the coming November elections. Bogus charges in 2008 that Barack Obama was a Muslim, as if that should discredit him, is an example of an Islamophobia which is still being used as a political strategy today. This form of political hate speech was addressed by Colin Powell in his endorsement of Obama when he asked:
“Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? … I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, ”He’s a Muslim and he might be associated [with] terrorists.” This is not the way we should be doing it in America.”
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, desperately seeking to recapture his national Republican leader role, tried this past week to create a bizarre national threat about the implementation of Islamic law, shariah, that doesn’t even exist:
“One of the things that I am going to suggest today is a federal law which says no court anywhere in the United States under any circumstance is allowed to consider sharia as a replacement for American law. Period.”
Republican Rex Duncan of Oklahoma followed suit, warning there is a “war for the survival of America,” to keep the sharia from creeping into the American court system. In California, a Tea Party Rally in protest of an Islamic Center Continue reading
I was excited when I came to know that a movie came out on Prince of Persia. I remember that game from my childhood, the setting & characters of the game which looked like eastern…like Persian. The trailer raised my eyebrows. I read few links and understood the problem. I tried explaining some of my friends about my problem with these two movies and so I have decided to post 4 of those reads at my blog.
This Prince is not Persian by Jehanzeb [Muslim Revere]
Whats Wrong with this Picture by Jehanzeb [Muslim Revere]
The Prince of Persia: The Brother is Brown by Jehanzeb [Muslim Reverie]

So spend some time in reading this post and decide for yourself. I was waiting for these movies, but you know I am not dying for it…it’s not worthit. I am proud for who I am by the grace of Allah and if someone thinks that is not good enough then heck I don’t care.

Islamophobia is rising at a very alarming rate in the West and in particular the United States. Niqab bans and Minaret bans in Europe aside, and ignore recent ‘Draw Muhammad Day‘ campaign, there are news and events that do not make it to the global scale or even national level. That, however, does not mean that it can be ignored.
Allow me to provide you with these links. Dates might not be the exact day of incident as I got it from the earliest mentioning online site. Sit tight, hold your hearts for the time has come to keep your naive minds aside:-
Dan Finelli Ad: (on May 5th 2010) Mr Dan Finelli is a Florida Republican, new to the field of Politics. He is running for the 8th District seat and he ran 3 ‘bold’ actually racist and Islamophobe campaign ads. Showing brown person as a terrorist and a white man as a peaceful person! Mr. Finelli showed his ignorance by refusing to acknowledge that the suicide plane attack on an IRS facility in Texas, the shooting of Pentagon guards and the Christian militia plot to kill police officers (arrested in Michigan) were by “Whites.” DON”T STOP here! There is more below!!!
“It is no accident that the rise of anti-Semitism in nineteenth-century Europe coincided with the rise of nationalism. Nationalism, you will recall, presupposes a measure of ethnic or cultural homogeneity within a nation-state—something to bind a population together under a single collective identity. But the Jews represented a conspicuously alien culture that, despite centuries of living and thriving in every corner of Europe, had, in the minds of many, yet to sufficiently assimilate into European society (at least not enough to have disappeared altogether). The secret trial and false conviction of Alfred Dreyfus was a human tragedy. But the affair also raised much broader issues of a national identity among the French. The right-wing newspaper editor Edouard Drumont captured the sentiment of many French nationalists when he declared that Dreyfus’s betrayal was the inexorable destiny of his race. The Jews were a nation within a nation; it was inconceivable to think that their loyalties would be to France.”
Today I was watching Youtube videos of Al Hajj Malik Al Shabazz- Malcolm X that I was referred to by a friend.
Below is the short interchange today that I “UmerSultan” on youtube faced with this person “Ishhkabibble” at the video “Martin Luther King on Malcolm X.”
I just realized while writing this post that my comment response was with the intention of defending Malcolm X. I didn’t realize that the video is actually of Martin Luther King. I mixed it up with another video I had open.
However, that doesn’t matter, it still is…
WOW just WOW
The comments can be seen somewhere here.
Below is a link to a fellow blogger from Canada who wrote this great article on rising Islamophobia and the Eurabia myth.
Its a good read.
Knock yourself out please:
Rep. Trent Frank: (R-AZ) In this country, we had slavery for God knows how long. And now we look back on it and we say “How brave were they? What was the matter with them? You know, I can’t believe, you know, four million slaves. This is incredible.” And we’re right, we’re right. We should look back on that with criticism. It is a crushing mark on America’s soul. And yet today, half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by the policies of slavery. And I think, What does it take to get us to wake up? (video)
In order to watch the video and the source please do refer here Daily Kos
This guy is insane. Arguing for Abortion while demonizing African Americans saying that they are worst now than they were in slavery and Mr. Franks is the United States Representative from the State of Arizona from the Republican Party.
These days GOP has an abundance of racist and bigotted politicians, whats up with that!
Section E: Maintenance of Law and Order and Enforcement of Hudud
While the act of surveillance* is supposed to be the duty of every Muslim, this cannot be left as a totally voluntary duty. It is for the government to ensure that a group of persons is effectively engaged in this task on a full-time basis. In either case, the government must take a hortatory role and act as a moral force. It is equally the duty of the government to use its force in order to maintain law and order in the country. The Divine scheme of life as enunciated in the Qur’an and Hadith hates fasad (corruption) and zulm (injustice) in the society.
The frequent mention in the Qur’an that Allah does not like fasad and that Allah does not like zulm and the severe admonitions which the Qur’an associates with these vices make it obligatory for an Islamic state not only to suppress these vices but also to plug all the loopholes that lead one to indulge in them. The term fasad is used in the Qur’an to convey the following meanings: Continue reading
