Foreign Policy compiles sites and forums of Internet Radicals

Foreign Policy posted this interesting and alarming link at their website. There are few interesting things that I noticed.

On slide 15, it shows that these Radicals are also on Facebook with “200 fans.” Now if you compare this with other Islamic oriented pages on Facebook that are not that famous and are not affiliated with any famous organizations like Productive Muslim, Islamic Studies have many more fans than this. This is one example that it shows that it’s the small group but is highly organized.

Moreover, many of these people are working on their own by listening radical leaders on YouTube and Internet Forums, creating videos and posting on YouTube that are emotional and arouse people to do something against leadership (foreign and domestic!). The ignorance of Islam (limited or no understanding of Islam) combined with zealousy or political/financial situation of the person or his family all contributes to this radicalism.

Ulema (Muslim Religious Scholars) of Islam have always stood against Radicalism and Extremism. If you want to read a book on this subject (especially for Muslims) read “Islamic Awakening between Rejection and Continue reading

Imran Khan says US is responsible for Terrorism in Pakistan

“Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan declared the government of Pakistan a slave of the US and added that the ongoing terrorism in the country would continue until Washington stopped meddling in the internal affairs of Islamabad.” -PTI

Imran Khan said the above quote in a press conference after the twin suicide bombings at the shrine of an Islamic scholar and a sufi saint, Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh in Lahore.

The dilemma I am facing is that how come the anti-muslim, the neo-con, Islamophobic, American Supremacist element has given complete impunity to Imran Khan!! I mean that is pretty freaky. What is going on behind the scenes??? Places where ZakirNaik (a Muslim Telepreacher) gets banned, Imran Khan has Freedom!!!! How Come???

Imran Khan has given countless statements regarding the Pak-US relations that can qualify him to be labelled as Anti-American by the american Right. However, I have not come across any opposition to him in this respect. Where criticizing American policy of drones attack in Pakistan, and opposing military escalation in Afghanistan can cause Continue reading

Freedom Flotilla Activist denies “Terrorist” Tag of Israel

Israel and its lobby, in order to crush the global uproar against its illegal commando operation on Freedom Flotilla, has started referring to the activists on board Marvi Marmara as “Terrorists.” As much insane this may sound to the general public, here the activists gives a much clearer picture (prepare to face his boldness):

Note: There is a Jewish Flotilla scheduled for July to break the inhuman Israeli siege of Gaza.

“US Media and Israel Military, All in the Family” by Alison Weir of If Americans Knew

By Alison Weir, Sabbah Report

[Alison Weir is executive director of If Americans Knew, which provides information and media analysis on Israel-Palestine]

I don't own the Picture

Recent exposés revealing that Ethan Bronner, the New York Times Israel-Palestine bureau chief, has a son in the Israeli military have caused a storm of controversy that continues to swirl and generate further revelations.

Many people find such a sign of family partisanship in an editor covering a foreign conflict troubling especially given the Times’ record of Israel-centric journalism.

Times management at first refused to confirm Bronner’s situation, then refused to comment on it. Finally, public outcry forced Times Public Editor Clark Hoyt to confront the problem in a February 7th column.

After bending over backwards to praise the institution that employs him, Hoyt ultimately opined that Bronner should be re-assigned to a different sphere of reporting to avoid the “appearance” of bias. Times Editor Bill Keller declined to do so, however, instead writing a column calling Bronner’s connections to Israel valuable because they “supply a measure of sophistication about Israel and its adversaries that someone with no connections would lack.”

Iran and Syria strengthening their ties, counter to US-Israeli expectations!

Below is an article published at Muslim Observor. This signing of new accord between the state of Syria and Iran shows that both countries will resist the United States pressure on their sovereignty. It also throws the very much popular rhetoric by these so called experts in the US media that the division between Shia and Sunnis, 2 major muslim groups, are so deep that they will keep fighting. It is interesting to note that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (“shia”) met with the exiled leader of Hamas “sunni”, the popular Palestinian Islamic resistence movement.

I don’t think trying to isolate Iran and having sanctions on it would change anything. Iran is a signitory of the Nuclear Prolifiration Treaty, and thus it has a right to have a nuclear power for energy. The UN should deal with Iran, not the US.

DAMASCUS: The presidents of Syria and Iran signed a visa-scrapping accord on Thursday, signaling even closer ties and brushing aside United States efforts to drive a wedge between the two allies.

“I am surprised by their call to keep a distance between the countries … when they raise the issue of stability and peace in the Middle East, and all the other beautiful principles,” Syrian President Bashar Assad told a news conference in Damascus with his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

“We need to further reinforce relations if the true objective is stability. We do not want others to give us lessons on our region, our history,” the Syrian president said.

KARACHI, Pakistan — The American-born spokesman for al-Qaida has been arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers in the southern city of Karachi, two officers and a government official said Sunday, the same day Adam Gadahn appeared in a video urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country.

The arrest of Gadahn is a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi.

Gadahn — who has often appeared in al-Qaida videos — was arrested in the sprawling southern metropolis in recent days, two officers who took part in the operation said. A senior government official also confirmed the arrest.

Anti-Toyota Propaganda and the Amnesty for GM! Is it a Propaganda?

A sign assuring customers the car has not been affected by the recall is displayed on a 2010 Camry at Bay Ridge Toyota in New York, on Feb. 4, 2010. (AP / Seth Wenig)

Every year, auto industries have a recall. Sometimes for some part, and sometimes for some electronic problem in a particular model. Foreign or domestic, it is a standard in the auto industry. However, recently Toyota, the most famous and trustful auto company across the world got a major hit for some accelerator problem, that led to the major scrutiny of the company.

News on Toyota was everyday thing on all news mediums from TV channels to newspapers and radios, everyone was discussing the safety of the public and what it means for the future of the company Some said that it was the US propaganda to use the problem and the recall of Toyota cars in order to divert the sale from Toyota towards US auto companies. Others said that foriegn products are low quality and only US can have good quality, and this incident will make Americans realize to buy American! Was this a propaganda or not, I don’t know lets see::

Apart from the politicians and media rhetoric, the readers will be astonished to know that recall is a very common thing in the auto industry, the massive auto recall by Toyota not only started in 2009 but it was massive back in 2006 as well!! I will try to summarize some of the stats below:

No Terrorism Threat Now? Only Because he is not Ahmed or ibn qasim!

By Umer Sultan

An idiot from Bethesda. Pict taken from Washington Post

I came to know about this today. Yes 5 days after this news was reported. That a 20 yrs old guy from Bethesda named Collin McKenzie-Gude was convicted for trying to assassinate President Obama back in 2008 when we was running for elections.

The entire story can be read at Washington Post, Jan 20, 2010 issue

What, I remember when this Christian Preacher down south was preaching in his church and in an interview in a radio station that he hope Obama dies. This is also back then, when President Obama was running for President.

So no fear of terrorism now! No mention what motivated him to try assassinate President Obama in 2008!

Examining the Washington Post Article: Poor schooling slows anti-terrorism effort in Pakistan

On January 17, 2010, the Washington Post, one of the top US Newspaper, published an article by Griff Witte entitled “Poor schooling slows anti-terrorism effort in Pakistan.”  The article contained some serious misinformation, and misrepresentation whether intended to be or it just happened to be there by accident.  Below are what I think important ones to be discussed.

The Problem and US Aid:

The problem of the Pakistani Education System[1] is known by Pakistanis, and it is a recognized problem. For decades the United States has funnelled US Tax Payer’s Dollars to mainly Pakistani Army in “aid” and either to the corrupt “democratic” government or to the US sponsored Dictatorship in Pakistan!

For the first time in the history of this Pak-US alliance, US President Obama will be sending US $ in “aid” not for the Pakistani Military but instead for the Educational System of Pakistan!

So Washington Post in regards to this very seroius problem in Pakistan- which is ignored by the corrupt elite, the so called Democratic governments, and also ignored by US sponsored Dictatorships- has just further increased the misconception of the Americans.

American Public is very ill-informed about Pakistan and has many misconceptions about Islam. Thanks goes to the American Media, that is designed or has happened to evolve is such a way that the usual reportings on these topics are just based on bunch of lies, phobias, assumptions and generalizations. Washington Post, NY Times, Chicago Tribune and many more mainstream newspaper mediums share some what the same amount of “problem” relating to reporting the issues in the Muslim World, in particular of Pakistan in this case.

Examining the Article & the Real Issue:
